a special anniversary this year

In 1909-100 years ago-we served our first customer, the Northern Light Electric Company in Wahpeton, North Dakota. We generated the electricity at our Dayton Hollow hydro station on the Otter Tail River near Fergus Falls, Minnesota, which still is in use!

Today we bring economical, reliable energy to more than 129,000 residential, farm, and business customers in 423 communities and in rural areas in 50,000 square miles of western Minnesota, eastern North Dakota, and northeastern South Dakota. We're equally committed to preserving our natural environment, helping create and retain jobs in our region, and giving back to communities we serve. And we continue to pursue new energy technologies to expand our balanced mix of generation resources as we plan for our next century of service.

During 2009 we published an original children's book and initiated three pay-it-forward projects. We hope you'll enjoy learning more about Otter Tail Power Company's history.
