Press conference speakers represent local, regional, and statewide commitment to energy efficiency and community development.
Back row: Dusty Johnson, Chairman, South Dakota Public Utilities Commission; Tom Satrang, NESDEC partner, President and CEO of Woodland Cabinetry; Lorrie Hansen, NESDCAP partner, homeowner, and father.
Front row: Chuck MacFarlane, President, Otter Tail Power Company; Lorrie Finnesand, Executive Director, Northeast South Dakota Economic Corporation; Stephanie Hoff, Communication Specialist, Otter Tail Power Company.

MacFarlane speaks to the social, economic, and environmental impact that NESDEC and NESDCAP have in the region, and thanks the two organizations for their ongoing commitment to energy-efficiency services and community development programs.

Free compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) fill the NESDCAP and NESDEC entryway. As part of our commitment to paying it forward, we gifted two energy-efficient CFLs to everyone who attended our dedication on March 25. We asked the attendees to use one CFL in their own homes and give the other to friends or neighbors. With those CFLs, Sisseton area residents are creating more energy-efficient homes and helping to pay it forward.

Johnson reads an official proclamation on behalf of Governor Rounds declaring April 9 as Otter Tail Power Company Pay-It-Forward Day in South Dakota. April 9 marks the day we served our first customer 100 years ago.

MacFarlane presents NESDCEC, NESDCAP, and the State of South Dakota with a limited-edition print commemorating Otter Tail Power Company's 100th anniversary. Otter Tail Corporation commissioned Jeff Hoff, North Dakota artist and 14-year Otter Tail Power Company employee, to create this original wildlife print featuring the river otter.

Ollie the Otter and Lori Finnesand, NESDEC Executive Director, share in the South Dakota pay-it-forward dedication.
